FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This page is dedicated to providing answers to those interested in learning how to care for their stonewares, where their stonewares came from and the answers to any other frequently asked questions.

WHERE DOES THE STONE USED IN ANNABELL STONE PRODUCTS COME FROM?

The stone used in this collection has come from regions all over the world, including Wales, Canada, China and Spain

HOW OLD IS THE SLATE USED IN THE STONEWARES COLLECTION?

The slate used in this collection was formed over 500 million years ago. It has had an enormous amount of time to develop its own unique character which is evident in every product on offer, in each grain or flake. Every piece is truly one of a kind and bears a history we are all far too young to imagine.

HOW DURABLE ARE THE STONEWARES?

The Annabell Stone collection of stonewares is made up predominantly of slate products, but also some granite and marble. No matter what product though, rest assured that the materials from which it was created are highly durable. In fact, slate is one of the most enduring naturally occurring slates available and is often used for house flooring and roofing for this very reason. Like roofing and flooring slates, our products are made to last. They are designed to be lightweight yet sturdy and with the right care, will last for years.

DO I NEED TO TREAT MY STONEWARES?

To achieve the rustic look that is so popular amongst our customers, our products haven't been treated with oil as this would lead to a more polished and modern look. If this is the look you're after and if you'd like to treat your stone products, then we suggest wiping your products down with a few drops of food grade mineral oil once or twice annually.

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY STONEWARES?

The Annabell Stone collection is best hand-washed using a sponge and everyday dishwashing detergent. The feet on the base of the slate boards should be treated carefully and for this reason, the stonewares collection should not be placed in the dishwasher.
